Joseph Diaz showed up to Thursday’s press conference 30 minutes early, and if his pregame press conference is any indication of how training camp is going for him, things are looking pretty good.
Diaz, who will meet Oscar Dulat on Saturday (April 27) at the SaveMart Center in Fresno, also has new trainer Christian Guevara.
Diaz (33-5-1, 15 KOs) faces Duarte (26-2-1, 21 KOs) nearly two months after his last loss with a new team behind him, but Diaz Yaz admits that boxing is fun for him.
The 2012 American Olympian, who also captured the IBF junior lightweight title, will have a tough fight on Saturday.

“We are good together in many ways, like the way we look at the world, and that helps,” Guevara said of the new partnership. – Looks like a brother. We can talk directly to each other without asking anything.
Guevara is Diazad’s main opponent and will face Robert Garcia. While the fighters are fighting, the trainers help motivate and strategize in the situations, Diaz praised Guevara.
“He’s a great guy,” Diaz told BoxingScene. – We covered all the topics there – back to the way I fought – back to loving boxing and enjoying it.
Diaz initially said he didn’t want to come back shortly after his heartbreaking loss to (Jesus Antonio) Perez, but he returned to the ring three months later. Guevara’s quick return bodes well for Guevara.
“(His quick comeback) shows he’s hungry and motivated,” Guevara said. – I think this is a good thing from the point of view of his physical health, he will return to work. I think this is good.
Diaz has had a difficult career but now a coach who has worked with Luis Neri and Luis Alberto Lopez (as assistant coach) is looking to revive his career.
