Promoter Oscar De La Hoya and his understudy Jaime Munguia are promising to accomplish something Saul “Canelo” Alvarez doesn’t seem keen on, and that is closing down for a battle against David Benavidez.
After only two fights in the division, Munguia (43-0, 34 KOs) will fight Alvarez (60-2-2, 39 KOs), the undisputed champion of the super middleweight division, on May 4. Benavidez, a career super middleweight, has been on the outside looking in at the “Canelo Sweepstakes.”
Alvarez recently stated that he would need up to $200 million to convince Benavidez to fight him.
“That is simply one more approach to saying I would rather not battle him,” De La Hoya told BoxingScene. ” That is the reality. That is all. So you toss out a number. It is typical of Boxing 101. Outprice yourself if you don’t want to fight someone.
“The next guy will be Jaime. The man will be him. It’ll be the death of the light [when he beats Alvarez]. Canelo has been with us for a while, and he is currently in the fourth quarter of his career. It is time for fresh blood and a new warrior to take control.

Munguia and Benavidez’s fight, according to De La Hoya, would be arranged “in a heartbeat.”
The two sides started off talks last year, yet an arrangement never verged on crossing the end goal.
Munguia stated to BoxingScene, “It’s going to happen sooner rather than later if both of us keep winning and we both keep doing our thing.”
Benavidez would be an excellent opponent. I’m here to battle the greatest. I can see that many people are pleased to see me fight Canelo. I don’t know what’s going on between David Benavidez and Alvarez, and I honestly don’t care about it. I’m concentrating on myself and getting ready for my fight.
De La Hoya predicts that Alvarez, who is getting older, will lose for the second time in his five fights.
De La Hoya stated, “[Canelo is beatable] because of all the wear and tear.” A fighter who has been fighting for such a long time should just expect their body to start breaking down. The sport’s past demonstrates that no fighter can fight the best fighters repeatedly for long periods of time. There’s nothing that can be done about it. Jaime is more youthful, more vivacious and spurred, and tosses more punches. He has a decent jawline and can take a punch. At the point when Canelo was Munguia’s age, he was a risky warrior. He is still, but it’s like choosing between a new Ferrari and an old Ferrari. You can no longer push the classic Ferrari to its limits.
De La Hoya additionally said that Munguia’s coach, Freddie Cockroach, will actually want to kick his surge into overdrive now that they are working in their subsequent full camp together.
He appears to be doing well in training. He walked quickly and easily. A great deal of energy. He keeps fighting. That’s nice, “De La Hoya said.
“Freddy brings insight and information, and he knows how to converse with you to convey the idea. I want Freddy and Jaime assuming control over boxing.”
