Canelo Alvarez Fires Back at De La Hoya: “He Have Sh*t in His Head” Ahead of Jaime Munguia Clash
As the countdown to the highly anticipated Cinco de Mayo weekend clash between Canelo Alvarez and Jaime Munguia intensifies, the spotlight shifts from the ring to the fiery verbal exchange between Canelo and his former promoter, Oscar De La Hoya. The tumultuous history between the two has resurfaced, with De La Hoya vowing to unleash a verbal onslaught during fight week. However, Canelo remains unfazed, dismissing De La Hoya’s threats with contemptuous defiance.
In a recent interview with iFL TV, Canelo’s focus was resolutely fixed on his upcoming bout, refusing to be drawn into the war of words initiated by De La Hoya. When questioned about De La Hoya’s intentions to ramp up the rhetoric during fight week, Canelo’s response was laced with disdain. “I don’t really care about Oscar. He have sht in his head. I don’t give a sht what he say,” declared the undisputed super-middleweight champion, encapsulating his indifference towards his former promoter’s provocations.
“So Oscar said that he wouldn’t hold back this week. What did you make of his comments when he was referencing yourself?” Canelo’s response was both blunt and dismissive. “I don’t really care and I’m so happy and I’m focused on my fight. I don’t really care about Oscar. He have sh*t in his head. I don’t give a sh*t what he say,” he declared.
De La Hoya, On the other hand, has made no secret of his intentions to stir the pot and ruffle feathers during fight week. In an interview on ‘The MMA Hour,’ he vowed to speak his mind without reservation, promising to confront Canelo with unfiltered truths and provocative statements. “I’m going to talk sh*t like there’s no tomorrow… I got all kinds of stuff, fight week,” De La Hoya asserted, signaling his readiness to escalate the verbal sparring to new heights.
“I’m going to speak the truth right when I’m promoting this and on the podium. Look, I’m not going to hold back. I’m gonna go hard.” He promised a tirade that would not shy away from stirring controversy, hinting at unleashing all kinds of remarks during fight week. “I’m going to talk sh*t like there’s no tomorrow. The sht that he’s talked about me, you know. I got all kinds of stuff, I got all kinds of stuff, fight week,” Oscar added.
Despite De La Hoya’s determination to provoke a reaction, Canelo remains steadfast in his determination to let his fists do the talking come fight night. In a candid conversation with BoxingScene, Canelo reiterated his unequivocal stance on his fractured relationship with De La Hoya, making it clear that there’s no room for reconciliation. As the tension mounts and emotions run high, the stage is set for a showdown not only inside the ring but also in the realm of verbal sparring between two boxing titans at odds with each other.
“I’m not interested in being friends with him. I’m fine where I am,” he expressed clearly.
He added , “I have nothing to do with him. I wish him all the best and that’s it. But I don’t want him in my life. I don’t want him near me or around me. I don’t want that kind of vibe in my life.”
